Hollywood Studios opened at Walt Disney World in May of 1989 as has been sharing movie magic ever since. While the park has many amazing shows to enjoy it doesn’t lack in thrilling rides. In this blog post I’ll be highlighting 6 of the best rides at Hollywood Studios you can’t miss on your next trip.
Best Rides at Hollywood Studios
Toy Story Mania
Location: Toy Story Land
Height Requirement: Any Height
The first ride of its kind at Disney, Toy Story Mania is a 4-D interactive experience. It is similar to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in the Magic Kingdom, but taken to the next level. Riders sit sit by side and compete with one another in mini games collecting points throughout the ride with their shooter.
Woody, Buzz, and the gang have all kinds of classic cardinal midway games for riders to play. Riders wear 3-D glasses and get hit with small sprays of water and air during the ride. From shooting ducks, targets, and little green aliens this ride is a blast for the whole family.

Best Rides at Hollywood Studios: Slinky Dog Dash
Location: Toy Story Land
Height Requirement: 38” or taller
Slinky Dog Dash is the big ride is Toy Story Land. While I love the ride itself the line is unthemed and pretty boring. If you’re with children I recommend downloading the My Disney Experience App for exclusive games just for Toy Story Land.
The coaster itself is Slinky Dog, and it was my favorite part! Slink is one of my favorite Toy Story characters and it was super fun to ride him! I was surprised how fast the ride went, but is definitely a great first roller coaster for kids. They’ll get a great view of Toy Story Land and other parts of Hollywood Studios from the top of the tallest hill. And at the end you get serenaded by none other than Wheezy himself.

The Hollywood Tower of Terror
Location: Sunset Boulevard
Height Requirement: 40” or taller
This amazing ride is the drop tower you see at your average theme park, but Disney style. Step into the twilight zone and see what happened one fateful night at the Hollywood Tower Hotel.
The experience starts when you step in line as you wind your way through the cobwebs of the once spectacular hotel. Cast members are dressed as bellmen and guide you to a room to watch an introductory video. From there step foot and strap into the service elevator and enter the 5th dimension. Then hold on to your lunch because the randomizer makes no 2 rides alike!
Rock N’ Roller Coaster with Aerosmith
Location: Sunset Boulevard
Height Requirement: 48” or taller
My absolute favorite ride at Hollywood Studios is the Rock N’ Roller Coaster, and it’s not just because of I’m a Massachusetts native who loves herself some Aerosmith. This was Disney’s first upside down Roller coaster and the first big coaster I ever rode growing up.
Getting in line gives you access to the recording studio where Aerosmith is recording their latest album. However, there’s a big problem, they’re late for their concert! Jump on in the limousine and race to the concert with the band! This coaster rockets riders from 0 to 57 mph in less than 6 seconds!
Each of the limousines has its own soundtrack. You’ll either get “Walk This Way,” “Dude (Looks Like a Lady),” “Sweet Emotion” or “Back in the Saddle” blasting through speakers as you ride. One of the limos even has the Aerosmith classic “Love in an Elevator” was rewritten as “Love in a Roller Coaster” just for this ride!

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Location: Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
Height Requirement: 38” or taller
Step aboard the famous Millennium Falcon and fasten your seat belt. Once aboard you’ll be assigned a specific job like pilot, engineer, or gunner. This reminds me a little bit of Mission Space at Epcot.
Power of the Falcon and make the jump to lightspeed. Then you’ll meet Hondo Ohnaka who needs you to deliver some difficult to find items to a special client. You need to be discreet and I’m not sure if it’s 100% legal. Take care and make sure to work with your team to complete the mission.
Best Rides at Hollywood Studios: Rise of the Resistance
Location: Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge
Height Requirement: 40” or taller
The crown jewel of Galaxy’s Edge is Rise of the Resistance, the newest of the Star Wars rides at Hollywood Studios. Using multiple ride systems it is unlike anything else the Disney Imaginears have ever dreamed up! And to be honest it’s more of a full on experience than just one of the best rides at Hollywood Studios.
I don’t want to give too much away as Rise of the Resistance deserves to be experienced with little to no knowledge of what you’re getting into. However just know there are lots of moving parts, you’ll be interacting with actors, there are plenty of audio animatronics, and once you get on the ride you’ll be in some of the newest Disney technology in the parks.
