Recently, I’ve received some messages asking how to get kids to stay active when stuck in the house. I’ve done a little research into fitness apps for kids to keep moving. These 5 apps are a blast and will have your kids asking to play them again and again!
Free Fitness Apps for Kids: Just Dance Now
Just Dance Now is a great game for kids ages 4 and up who love to dance. While you can get it for video game consoles you can also get it on your smartphone too. If your smartphone can screencast to a smart TV even better!
The game has players do a choreographed dance set to popular music. This super fun app will get the kids up and dancing to some of their favorite songs. With a selection of over 300 different songs to pick from the whole family can play!
Each day players get a certain amount of coins, the currency used in the app, to use to play songs. If you don’t want to wait there are in-app purchases.
The app is available on iOS & Android.

Best Fitness Apps for Kids: Zombies, Run!
Zombies, Run is an easy game for older kids to get into if they like running and zombies. I personally hate zombies, so this game isn’t for me. I did, however, test it out, and it’s pretty fun to play.
Zombies, Run! is a running game that is a great motivator when running sucks. With a smartphone and some headphones, players go on an audio adventure that makes them the center of a story with zombies everywhere. Complete missions and get moving.
The app is available on both iOS & Android.

Fitness Apps for Kids: GoNoodle Kids
GoNoodle Kids is a great app that many schools use to get kids up and moving between lessons. The videos help kids learn to focus, be mindful and stay positive.
One of my favorite parts of the game is that players get a character and the move they move the cooler it gets. The downside of the app is the videos are short and will not keep kids engaged for long periods of time.
GoNoodle Kids is only available on iOS.

Top Fitness Apps: Sworkit Kids
Sworkit is a fitness app originally geared towards adults but had developed workouts for kids as well. The workouts turn exercising into a game to help kids build strength and flexibility.
The app challenges kids to keep moving with randomized workouts which I love! It also includes interval training and helps kids work on their agility.
The only downside to the app is that it gives verbal cues only, so kinds new to working out and those who are visual learners might need assistance from an adult at home to ensure they’re doing the exercises the right way.
Sworkit is available on iOS & Android.
Kids Fitness Apps: NFL Play 60
NFL Play 60 with developed in partnership with the NFL and the American Heart Association. It uses augmented reality to get kids up and moving using actual steps and motions kids are making.
Players collect real NFL players to create their team roster. They play catch and train right in the app. During gameplay, the motion of the player is mimicked by the virtual player in the app.
Kids will need plenty of room to play this game. They’ll be watching the screen and moving at the same time in some instances. Clear a space or do this outdoors if you can to prevent injury.
The app is available for iOS & Android.
