I first went to Cuba in December of 2019 and have been back several times since. Cuba is a misunderstood country full of beautiful countryside, spectacular art and music, and it is chock full of surprises. And the best part? You don’t have to pack too much! This super simple Cuba packing list will have you ready to jump on plane tomorrow and head to this gorgeous island country.
Most of your time in Cuba will be spent in the sunshine, but sometimes the nights get cold. A cute denim jacket will be perfect for when it gets a little chilly, and is perfect for looking great in all your pictures.
I recommend packing 1 shirt for each day you’re in Cuba. It gets very hot there and you’ll be sweating a bunch, especially if you’re out adventuring. Make sure to pack a mix of t-shirts and tank tops so you can switch it up throughout your trip. If you’re looking to pack light check with your casa particular in advance to see if they offer laundry service.
A pair of black leggings should be an automatic go to for any packing list. They go with everything, they don’t take up that much space in a suitcase, and you can find them in different styles.
Shorts
Cuba gets hot, so make sure you pack a few pairs of shorts. These tan shorts from Columbia are comfortable and easy to wash. They’re perfect if you’re moving from place to place because they’re quick dry.
At some point, and let’s be honest multiple times, you’re going to go out while you’re in Cuba. And when you go out, you’re going to want to look cute.
Check out this yellow dress is from Amazon. It comes in 28 other colors and patterns, so you’ll be able to find the best look for you.
If you go to Cuba and don’t spend time at the beach you’re seriously missing out.
Most types of bathing suits are okay to wear in Cuba. I decided to pack my favorite one piece bathing suit. It covers everything (specifically from the sun), it’s cute, and it’s super comfy.
Sometimes in Cuba you need to cover up to protect yourself from the sun. Especially if you’re as pale as I am. This Panama style hat is lightweight and fold-able. It’s a great hat because it always goes back to its original shape.
I also put my Waypoint Goods scarf in my suitcase when I head to Cuba. They have a limited edition lightweight Havana scarf. It has a hidden pocket too!
I brought 2 pairs of shoes with me to Cuba, my trusty black converse and my brown blowfish sandals. I’ve worn both of them on several trips and find them comfortable and easy to pack. For me packing light is a priority because I’m always on the move.
I don’t care what anyone else says, New Balance makes the best socks. I’ve been wearing New Balance socks for over 10 years. Yes, I’m a creature of habit, and I will wear New Balance socks until they don’t make them anymore.
For your Cuba adventure make sure to bring both a sports bra and a regular bra. The Champion Freedom Racerback Bra is sooooooooo comfortable, I wear it all the time while hiking and running.
When I’m not out being sporty I rock the Wonder Bra. Yup, I’m giving I’m my secret for why my boobs look good.
Over the last year Exofficio has become my favorite underwear. It’s super comfortable, has an odor-reducing antimicrobial treatment, and is made of a wicking mesh that is quick dry.
While in Cuba I went on a few hikes and spent some time at the beach, so I made sure to pack my Cotopaxi Luzon 18L del Dia Daypack. It packs down super small, but can also hold everything I need for a day of exploring. Cotopaxi makes their Luzon bags from leftover materials from their larger backpacks, so each one is different.
I went out a few times for drinks and to go salsa dancing during my trip, and this Lewis N. Clark Anti-Theft Crossbody purse came in handy. This is the perfect bag for going out because the zipper clasps shut, has anti-slash technology, and is RFID blocking.
